Album Information: A Public Affair is the fourth studio album by Jessica Simpson.
Scott Storch describes the track entitled "Fired Up" as "Jessica's 'Dirrty'". Simpson recorded another club track, "Mr. Operator," with Storch during their sessions together. Simpson wrote all but one song on the album. The song "Sexified" leaked on to the internet in 2005, but did not make the final cut for the album and is a possible UK Bonus Track or B-Side. Simpson recorded a cover of Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man," but it did not make the final cut.

Simpson wrote "Fired Up" for her friend, Cacee Cobb "since that's what she always says". "Back to You" is a flashback about her first boyfriend in high school, inspired by rereading old journal entries. Songs leaked off the album were: Back To You (clip), Swing With Me (clip), Fired Up (full), and Sexified (did not make the cut) A fifth song had leaked around the time of Fired Up's leakage, called "See It Through My Tears", but was quickly removed. It's said certain people may have it, but no leaks of it have come. There was a rumour among executives that Jessica had been planning to do a remake of sister Ashlee's hit song, Pieces of Me, but felt it was too dear to Ashlee and stuck to singing her own music.

And The Band Played On is a song that will be released in Asia and Germany. The song was supposed to be the title song for the LP, but A Public Affair was chosen. Scott Storch commented in an interview that the album's title change may have been because as much as Jessica wanted a country/club album, it had to have more of a club feeling to it. A Public Affair seemed a better fit. There's some speculation that the remix of A Public Affair will feature Rah Digga, Janet Jackson and Lil' Kim to give it a hip hop feeling. No confirmation yet.
Success Story: "A Public Affair" has already proven to be successful. iTunes has made it available for pre-order and this "pre-order" version of the album is already on the iTunes top 100 album chart and the pop album chart peaking at #8
