Justin Timberlake is planning to open his heart on his next album.
Timberlake is expected to begin recording the follow-up album to his 2002 solo debut Justified within the next couple of months.
The 24-year-old former 'NSync singer has been writing songs with longtime friend Matt Morris who co-wrote five songs on Christina Aguilera's Stripped album.
Morris told MTV the pair have written at least an album's worth of songs, about 15 to 20, but that since the subject matter is so personal discussing them "should be reserved for close friends and therapists."
The new album is expected in 2006 and will mark a return to music for the star who in recent months has filmed two movies, the thriller Edison co-starring Kevin Spacey and Alpha Dog based on the life of notorious drug dealer Jesse James Hollywood and co-starring Bruce Willis.
Justin Timberlake to become movie star
Justin Timberlake is in negotiations to play opposite the diminutive Sleepy Hollow actress Christina Ricci in the $13-million Black Snake Moan.
Shooting starts in September and will be filmed in Timberlake's hometown, Memphis, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Other projects that could add to Timberlake's movie star status include co-starring with the Oscar-winning actress of Million Dollar Baby Morgan Freeman, and a coveted role in Alpha Dog directed by the independent film maverick Nick Cassavetes.
Timberlake also lends his voice to the upcoming Shrek 3.
Black Snake Moan also stars the prolific Samuel L Jackson who portrays a blues guitarist trying to help Ricci's oversexed character.
Timberlake has established his start status as a singer in the boy band 'Nsync.
Justin Timberlake Eyed For New Movie Role
Justin Timberlake has landed himself another movie role - and this time he'll reportedly play a guy who grows marijuana.
The "Rock Your Body" singer, 23, recently impressed his co-stars LL Cool J, Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman when he worked on his debut movie 'Edison,' which has yet to hit screens.
And now he'll be expected to do well again in the movie 'Alpha Dog,' written and directed by Nick Cassavetes.
The film is based on the story of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer suspected of kidnapping and killing a 15-year-old boy in 2000.
According to US Weekly, Timberlake is expected to play Hollywood's cohort, foul-mouthed pot-grower Jesse Rugge.
Justin Timberlake Gets Introduction By *NSYNC's Fatone And Bass
(6/18/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Despite solo recordings and other outside projects, *NSYNC isn't over. The group's Joey Fatone and Lance Bass turned up at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday (June 16) night to introduce their pal and band mate Justin Timberlake before his concert performance. The pair said they hadn't seen Timberlake in concert yet, but were "big supporters." They also told the packed arena, "*NYSNC is not breaking up. We'll be back in September."
Monday's Justified & Stripped concert, which also featured a full set from Christina Aguilera, was the first of three L.A. dates. The pop stars performed again on Tuesday (June 17), with a final show at the arena on Friday (June 20).
Following his Staples concert, Timberlake performed a special show at the House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip at 1 a.m., with tickets selling out in a record two minutes.
Justin Timberlake 'Flattered' By BET Nominations
(6/10/03, 6 p.m. ET) -- Justin Timberlake recently received two nominations for BET Awards, for best male R&B artist and best new artist for his work on his R&B-infused solo album Justified. The *NSYNC singer teamed up with the hit-making team the Neptunes, the Underdogs, Scott Strorch, and Brian McKnight on the set.
Timberlake said he was thrilled when he learned that BET started playing the video from his first single, "Like I Love You." "It's great," Timberlake said. "I remember when they played the first video on BET. I was like, 'Woah!' And that's when I think I kind of realized that this was a bird of a different feather. I'm flattered for any nominations for any awards to be honest with you, but I think the biggest award I could possibly get is if somebody comes up to me and they're like, 'Hey, I just picked up your record and I really dig it.' I just really enjoy it."
The third annual BET Awards will take place on Tuesday (June 24) and air live on BET from the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
Justin Timberlake & Christina Aguilera Kick Off Tour
(6/4/03, 12 p.m. ET) -- Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera's Justified & Stripped tour kicks off at the America West Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday (June 4). Timberlake said that by joining forces with Aguilera he hopes to change the perception of teen pop music.
"You know even though this was her second album, and this was my first album I think we were kind of at similar places in our career where we wanted to break the mold of what people looked at as teen pop and move into a different direction,” Timberlake said. “And so I think those couple of things added up to why I thought it was cool for us to tour together."
The *NSYNC singer added that the focus of this tour will be on the music. "Nothing really takes away from the music on this show,” Timberlake said. “And I have a three piece horn section and a DJ as well. So, the band's really full, and I really enjoy the sound of it. I think in all the right ways we added to what was already that live sound that was on the record."
Timberlake and Aguilera--sporting her new long black hair--are featured on the cover of the July 26 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The magazine's headline reads, "Justin & Christina... Double Trouble... Hooking Up For The Sexiest Tour On Earth."
Timberlake recently co-hosted the 12th annual MTV Movie Awards with Seann William Scott. The show was taped on Saturday (May 31), at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET Thursday (June 5).
